Description

Throughout the history of bookbinding, there’s evidence of recycling. Paper and leather, too valuable to waste, were stripped from old books to make covers for new. In this class, participants will join that sustainable tradition, recycling vegetable cartons into one-of-a-kind blank books inspired by Anne Goy’s crisscross binding! Along the way, this workshop teaches broadly useful bookbinding skills, including how to prepare a text block and fundamental sewing techniques.

Instructor

Bryn Michelson-Ziegler is Associate Curator & Manager of Public Programs at the Rosenbach Museum & Library and maintains an active artistic practice. She holds an MFA from University of the Arts and utilizes her book arts practice, which encompasses everything from hand-papermaking and traditional letterpress typesetting to risograph zines, to offer Rosenbach guests exciting material insight into our collections.
