Description

Can you imagine living inside a Gilded Age gentleman’s library? For Rosenbach neighbor, John Y. Wind, who also happens to be an accomplished studio artist and well-known jewelry designer, this bookish dream is a reality. Wind and his husband Bill Osman reside in what once was the monumental library of Philadelphian book collector John Frederick Lewis, who lived just paces from Dr. Rosenbach’s Delancey Place home and, unsurprisingly, was an important customer of the Rosenbach Company.

Wind is also a featured artist in the inaugural installation of Treasures from the Rosenbach’s Collection: History of the Material Text. His artwork in the exhibition was inspired by an exploration of the history of John Frederick Lewis and the Rosenbachs and sheds light on Wind’s thinking about his own identity as he refurbished his spectacular library home.

The program will begin at the Rosenbach for a tour of the exhibition before stepping outside for a short walk to the John Frederick Lewis / John Wind home on Delancey Place. Guests will be welcomed with light refreshments and an opportunity to step back in time.
