Description

Get up close and personal with material culture in this special collaborative Behind the Bookcase tour! The Winterthur Library, part of the Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library, is both a product of H.F. du Pont's broader vision for a "bastion of decorative arts connoisseurship in America" and of its own unique (and sometimes quirky) ambition. Over the decades, the library has grown into one of the premier collections of material relating to American decorative art in a global and social context, illuminating the lives of everyday Americans through diverse materials like trade catalogs, ephemera, business records, pattern books, and more. This program will bring some of the beautiful and bizarre items that make up the over 1 million objects of the Winterthur Library collection to the Rosenbach.
