This Lithograph was printed in 1971 as part of a series. Mr Sendak compiled a selection of his favorite works which were then newly re-photographed from the original artwork in the Sendak archives at the Rosenbach Museum & Library, Philadelphia; altogether 19 different designs from eight titles were chosen for this project, to allow friends and collectors the opportunity to hang a print on their wall without mutilating any of his books, some in full color and others in duotone or black line. All of them were issued unsigned, but over the years the artist has selectively autographed a few copies of various images for friends and occasionally for concessionary sale. This particular example is from that group and survives in very fine condition, fully SIGNED BY THE ARTIST below the lower right corner of the image
