What would Ulysses look like in illustration? As a graphic novel? This year the Rosenbach will celebrate Bloomsday with a month-long exhibit that invites guests to picture Ulysses. June 16 marks the Rosenbach's 16th anniversary of our favorite fictional day, Bloomsday, the day on which Leopold Bloom walked the streets of Dublin in James Joyce’s classic novel Ulysses. Join hundreds of Rosenbach friends and neighbors and gather under the giant shade trees of Delancey Place to hear dozens of notable Philadelphians and Joyce enthusiasts bring the novel to life.
Along with the main event – the June 16th public reading of Ulysses in the sun and shade of Delancey Place – the Rosenbach will be featuring an exhibition of selections from the original Ulysses manuscript, “A Nation Is the Same People Living in the Same Place: Joyce and Jews,” as well as other special programming.
Please note, the museum will not open to the public until 12pm on Saturday, June 16. Tours of the historic house will not be available due to the event, please plan around this.
After the day of public readings on June 16th, celebrate Bloomsday well into the night at McGillin's Olde Ale House at 1310 Drury Street with
live music by Baby Brother & the High Five. Bring in any book by James Joyce for a free beer!
