This Reading Group is a fun and painless way to read (and finish!) James Joyce’s masterpiece, Ulysses. Providing a supportive community for first-time readers and enriching the experience of readers revisiting the text, this nine-session course incorporates an episode-by-episode discussion led by instructor Daniel Morse. Mr. Morse will also help the group contextualize the text by delving into Joyce’s personal life, his artistic method, and his involvement with the high modernism literary movement.
Throughout the year, we’ll also explore primary resource materials from the Rosenbach’s James Joyce collection, including the Ulysses manuscript, to help flush out how James Joyce wrote the novel. Click here for more information about the instructor and to view the course syllabus.
Note: By popular demand, there are two sessions of the Ulysses Reading Group this year. One session will meet on Wednesday and the other on Saturdays. Click here for information on the Saturday Session. Graduates of both Ulysses Reading Groups will be asked to read at the Rosenbach’s Bloomsday celebrations on June 16, 2013.
