Reading Group
2:00PM - 3:45PM

Upon publication, the first edition of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass (1855) was one of the most radical books of poetry—in both form and content—that anyone had ever read. In this four-session Reading Group, we’ll delve into Whitman’s collection, a lifelong project that he added to and revised for almost 40 years.

Dr. Max Cavitch, professor at the University of Pennsylvania and author of American Elegy: The Poetry of Mourning from the Puritans to Whitman, will lead our discussions.
