Reading Group
Reading Group: Ulysses Digest
In this Reading Group, we’ll read selections from James Joyce’s Ulysses to explore the consciousness of the novel’s three main characters and to debate if Joyce met his goal: “…to forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.”
This four-session Reading Group will be led by Lance Wahlert, Ph.D., a Trinity College fellow and University of Pennsylvania faculty member since 2002. Wahlert has taught courses on a wide variety of subjects including Irish literature, classical mythology, queer studies, and the history of medicine.
