Marianne Moore rejoiced in the mundane as well as the sublime. She amassed an incredibly varied collection of objects, from wind-up toys to Renaissance engravings, each of which held unique inspirational value. Rosenbach Artist-in-Residence Sue Johnson found striking similarities between her own collecting habits and those of the Modernist poet. In this gallery talk, we will explore Johnson’s installation Moore Adventures in Wonderland and examine the idea of artist as collector and archivist.
