Finding Lincoln
Maira Kalman
02/12/2009 - 08/31/2009
Maira Kalman is one of the most recognized and important artist/illustrator/designers working today. Her work has ranged from children’s books to illustrations for The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker to an illustrated edition of Strunk & White’s Elements of Style—which even included a picture of Lincoln!
For her Abe project Maira created “Finding Lincoln,” a 44 panel story based on the life of Abraham Lincoln, weaving in her own personal story about searching for Lincoln.
This project was funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Heritage Philadelphia Program with additional support from the Marketing Innovation Program. Additional support has come from the Samuel S. Fels Fund and The Raab Collection.
