In addition to our main exhibition
galleries, the Rosenbach offers smaller installations located throughout
the museum and period house. These mini-exhibitions spotlight particular
aspects of our collections or that pertain to the history of the Rosenbach
Company, and are sometimes presented in conjunction with major exhibitions
on view at other Philadelphia institutions.

The partner desk in the library showcases highlights from the Rosenbach's outstanding collection including a letter from Savonarola to his mother, a proof of John Tenniel’s illustration for the mad tea party in Alice in Wonderland, and a selection from Ulysses manuscript that includes one of Joyce’s few drawings. Also on display in the library are a manuscript poem by Walt Whitman and personal artifacts of Robert Louis Stevenson and Robert Burns.

Dining Room
A Mad Tea Party
On display through Fall 2008
With the Sendak exhibition in full swing at the Rosenbach, the dining room pays homage to another important children's book: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In honor of the 80th anniversary of Dr. R's famous purchase of the Alice manuscript, we'll set a place for Alice herself. The installation will feature selections from the Rosenbach's collection of ceramic and silver tea equipage, but hopefully no real dormice.
