Mission and Goals

The Rosenbach’s education programs are growing by leaps and bounds, including school partnerships, artists-in-residence, curriculum guides, courses, parades, film series and more.

Whether you’re a student, an artist, a scholar, or just crazy about learning, there’s something you don’t want to miss at the Rosenbach.

The education department’s goals are to:

  • Make the Rosenbach collections more intellectually and physically accessible

  • Expand and diversify our audience, while embracing our core constituency

  • Generate enthusiasm for learning—for all ages

  • Create a forward-looking, innovative, and playful image for the Rosenbach

  • Celebrate the diversity of voices and talents within the collections

  • Be an educational laboratory—experiment and analyze the results

  • Celebrate and encourage creativity

  • Teach through the arts—“art as education”

  • Encourage new scholarship and public discussion focused on our collections

  • Strive for excellence without exclusivity

  • Be willing to take risks on a regular basis

  • Be self-critical
