Artist Project: Martha Colburn

DON'T KILL THE WEATHERMAN!

May 22 - November 11, 2007

Martha Colburn creates a complex and surreal journey into a world at once medieval, contemporary and prophetic. The film combines images from the illuminations of Three Pilgrimages by Guillaume de Deguileville with an invented world of climate catastrophes and investigations into morality and spirituality made visible through her unique animated technique.

Martha Colburn is an animator, filmmaker and artist based between Amsterdam and New York/Los Angeles. She has a B.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art and M.A. equivalent from Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunst (Royal Academy of Art) in Holland. Her work has been screened at Sundance, MOMA, Rotterdam International Film Festival, and the 2006 Whitney Biennial.

The Rosenbach is committed to bringing its collections to life in new and unexpected ways through the commissioning of artist projects. This installation has been funded by the Hirsig Family Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation.
