This poster depicts a mural painted on the bedroom wall of the children of two of Sendak’s friends in 1961 showing a procession of characters that includes Sendak’s own dog Jennie (who appears in Where the Wild Things Are and other books), a lion, a bear, and Rosie (from The Sign on Rosie’s Door). The mural was donated to the Rosenbach Museum & Library in 2008, removed from the New York apartment in which it was painted, and conserved at the Rosenbach in 2011.
