Maurice Sendak's Original Drawings for Where the Wild Things Are

April 6 - June 29, 2003

Let the Wild Rumpus Start! is the first show ever to display all of the original drawings for Where the Wild Things Are. The exhibition also offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at the creation process, featuring Maurice Sendak's preliminary sketches and ‘dummy’ books, alternate drawings, manuscripts and proof materials, many of which have never before been exhibited. Sendak's own comments on his work provides a unique perspective for old and new fans of Where the Wild Things Are. Let the Wild Rumpus Start!, presented by HarperCollins Publishers, is produced to celebrate the Rosenbach Museum & Library's grand re-opening following an extensive two-year renovation and expansion project.
