Welcome Teachers!

The Rosenbach Neighborhood Mapping Project's curriculum guide is intended to be an easy-to-read and easy-to-use how-to description of a successful museum/school partnership project first developed at the Rosenbach in the spring of 2000.

These projects, as described, were designed for third, fourth and fifth grade classes but could easily be adapted for older and younger students. They ranged from eight to twelve weeks in length.

These project are very multidisciplinary -- involving elements of language arts, visual arts, history, geography, natural science and more. They were developed to meet very broad standards established by the School District of Philadelphia.

The curriculum guide contains the following:

  • Narrative of the mapping projects as applied in three schools
  • Examples of students' visual work
  • Lesson plans
  • Selected work sheets
  • Curriculum map
